Names of plants that grow best in hot, humid Miami?

Looking to plant new landscape and want to know which are the best plants to plant. Looking for minimal maintenance for plants that are exposed to the sun all day. Also, how often said plants should be watered.

Thank you.

Reply:If you go to a local garden center that has a certified nurseryman, you'll get all your questions answered.

I lived in Ft. Lauderdale and found ixora, helicanthus and caladiums do well, but there are lots of tropical plants you might like.
Reply:Banana Tree's!!!!LOL, I wish I had your zone...I live in zone 5 and have to bring mine indoors most of the year. It doesnt get any more tropical than banana's. They take care of themselves pretty well. Just water weekly and they grow like weeds. Warning though, once you have one you cant stop collecting them...

Bird of paradise is another beauty for a tropical climate. Heliconia's, most aroids (see link), love heat too.
